FARS Proudly Presents Rhythm Road!7:30pm Saturday, November 11, 2006919 Middlebrook Avenue, Staunton VA $10/$9 at the door |
Veteran musicians of several Shenandoah Valley bands, the members of Rhythm Road describe their sound as "a musical journey through Celtic lands, to the American heartland, with an Afro-Latin pulse." With Jim Harrington on the accordion, Joe Dockery on percussion, Kevin Walsh on bass and Buddy Thomas on acoustic guitar, the group lends its unique style to everything from Irish jigs and reels to Bob Wills' Texas swing to Paul Simon's world beat sound.
Added to their instrumental prowess are tight three part vocal harmonies, original arrangements of traditional tunes and stylistic variety that keep the listener on the edge of his/her seat. Above all, Rhythm Road is fun! It's almost impossible not to smile and tap your feet while listening to this lively group.
Rhythm Road has been performing at festivals and concerts throughout Virginia and Maryland for the past ten years. They have made three tours of Ireland, performing also at festivals and concerts along with taking part in the lively pub scene.
